Gymnastics Goes 1-1 in Tri-meet to End Regular Season

WASHINGTON D.C. โ The Kent State gymnastics team went 1-1 in a tri-meet with George Washington and Yale on Sunday, March 13th to close out the 2016 regular season.ย The Golden Flashes put up a team score of 195.275 to defeat the Bulldogs (191.775), but fell short to Colonials (195.400).
The Flashes scored 48.400 (vault), 48.800 (bars), 49.000 (beam), 49.075 (floor), to comprise their team score of 195.275.ย With the second place finish, the Flashes finish the regular season with a record of 10-4 (6-0 MAC).ย
Kent began the day on the floor exercise, led by junior Jordan Hardison's 9.925, which earned her first place overall.ย For the third meet in a row and fourth time this season, junior Skyelee Lamano scored a 9.875, finishing tied for fourth with Cami Drouin-Allaire of George Washington.ย Senior Nicolle Eastman landed in a tie for eighth place with a 9.825, followed by Michaela Romito in tenth with a 9.75.
The Golden Flashes headed to vault next, where Eastman once again scored a 9.825, this time finishing tied for third.ย Freshman Dara Williams turned in a 9.75, to tie for fifth, while Hardison finished tied for seventh with a 9.65.
Sophomore Ali Marrero came away with the uneven bars title, scoring a 9.85.ย Rebecca Osmer and Brooke Timko each scored a 9.75 to tie for fifth followed by Lamano and Sarah Lippowitsch in a tie for eighth at 9.725.ย ย
In the final rotation of the day, the Golden Flashes moved to beam where Hardisonย was top finisher once again for the Flashes, this timeย tying for third placeย with a 9.85.ย Junior Milena Fabry and freshman Kennedy Plude each scored a 9.8 to finish in a tie for fifth with Sara Mermelstein of George Washington.ย Eastman and Marrero both posted a 9.775 to tie with Jessica Wang of Yale for eighth place.
The Colonials posted team scores of 49.000 (vault), 48.000 (bars), and 49.025 (beam), and 49.375 (floor), to take the top spot in the tri-meet and move to 24-4 on the season.ย Jillian Winstanley took first in the all-around competition with a total score of 39.425.
The Bulldogs posted team scores of 47.800 (vault), 47.750 (bars), 47.975 (beam), and 48.250 (floor), taking third overall, dropping to 6-18 on the season.ย Megan Ryan captured fourth place in the all-around competition with a score of 38.075.
Kent State looks to defend their 2015 Mid-American Conference Tournament title as they travel to Muncie, Ind. on Saturday, March 19th to compete in the conference championship hosted by Ball State.ย ย ย
