
Gymnastics Heads to Ball State for MAC Championships

The Kent State gymnastics team heads to Ball State this weekend for the 2016 MAC Gymnastics Championships, with their sights set on defending their 2015 MAC tournament title. The action is set to kick off from John E. Worthen Arena at 2pm on Saturday, March 19th.

The Golden Flashes (10-4, 6-0 MAC) come into the MAC tournament having captured the MAC regular season title, going undefeated in conference meets this season. If victorious this weekend, it would be Kent State's ninth MAC title under Head Coach Brice Biggin.
Flashback to Last Year's MAC Championships
Kent State posted a team score of 196.375 in last year's MAC Championships, taking first place, followed by Central Michigan (196.275), Western Michigan (195.525), Eastern Michigan (195.075), Bowling Green (193.575), Ball State (193.200), and Northern Illinois (193.200).
Senior Rebecca Osmer took home the uneven bars title with a score of 9.9, while junior Skyelee Lamano and sophomore Rachel Stypinski were two of five gymnasts to score a 9.9 on floor, to tie for first.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes ended the regular season with a tri-meet against George Washington and Yale. With a team score of 195.275, the Flashes defeated Yale (191.775) but came up short to George Washington's 195.400.
Sophomore Ali Marrero captured first place on bars, scoring a 9.85, while junior Jordan Hardison took first on floor with a 9.925.
