
Flashes Release 2016 Schedule

KENT, Ohio - Kent State soccer coach Rob Marinaro recently announced the team's 2016 schedule. The Golden Flashes will compete in 18 regular season matches, opening up with an exhibition against Duquesne on Aug. 11, at Zoeller Field. The Flashes will have seven non-conference games and 11 Mid-American Conference games.
Kent State's regular season will commence with a trip to Columbus, to take on Ohio State Aug, 19, at 7 p.m. Â The Golden Flashes return to Kent, hosting Canisius on Aug. 21, at 1 p.m., for their regular season home opener.
Other home matches for Kent State include Indiana State (Sept. 16), Northern Illinois (Sept. 30), Western Michigan (Oct. 2), Buffalo (Oct. 9), Miami (Oct. 20), and Ball State (Oct. 23).
The Golden Flashes play a pair of tournament games against North Florida (Sept. 2) and Jacksonville (Sept. 4) in Jacksonville, Fla. Â The eight remaining road games will be against Dayton (Aug. 28), Pittsburgh (Sept. 11), Toledo (Sept. 23), Bowling Green (Sept. 25), Akron (Oct. 6), Central Michigan (Oct. 14), Eastern Michigan (Oct. 16), and Ohio (Oct. 27).

The Mid-American Conference Tournament begins with the quarterfinals on Oct. 30, the semifinals on Nov. 4, and the championship game on Nov. 6.
Kent State lost three seniors to graduation, but are bringing five freshmen into the fold. The 2015 Flashes team finished with a record of 11-6-3 and finished 7-4 in conference play.
