Lauer Remains on Golden Spikes Award Watch List

USA Baseball announced the 60-player midseason Golden Spikes Award watch list on Wednesday with Kent State's Eric Lauer making the cut. Lauer was also on the preseason watch list released in February.
The Golden Spikes Award is sponsored by Major League Baseball and is given every year to the top amateur baseball player in the nation. Voting for the semifinalists will begin June 1 and end June 8. Following that, fans can vote starting June 25. The 39th Golden Spikes Award winner will be named on Thursday, June 30 in Los Angeles, California.
Lauer has a 0.90 ERA in nine starts this season with 74 strikeouts in 60.1 innings. The junior is currently ranked 4th in the nation in ERA, 6th in hits allowed per nine innings, 14th in strikeouts, 39th in strikeouts per nine innings, 24th in victories and 15th in WHIP.
