TOLEDO, Ohio – Kent State's track and field programs wrapped up day two of the 2016 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Toledo on Friday, May 13.

After two days of competition, Kent State's women's team sits in a tie with Central Michigan for second place with 44 points, while the men's team sits in fourth place with 20 points. Akron leads on the women's side with 55 points and Eastern Michigan leads on the men's side with 76 points.
In the men's shot put final, David Paliscak landed a personal-record mark of 17.62m (57' 9.75"), earning him a second place finish and a Second Team All-MAC selection. Taking fourth place was Micheal King with a mark of 17.11m (56' 1.75").
Roseanne Erickson also earned a Second Team All-MAC selection with a runner-up finish in the long jump at 6.09m (19' 11.75"). Dior Delophont captured an eighth place finish at 5.76m (18' 10.75"), as she now needs 12 points to become the all-time leader in points scored at the MAC Championships. Cayla Carey came away in 10th place with a mark of 5.68m (18' 7.75").
With 7,027 points in the decathlon, Tyler Jones earned a third place finish and moved passed Collin Kinsey (7,017, 1996) for fourth place in the Kent State record book. Ryan Looser scored 6,660 points to take fifth place.
On the women's side, Chelsea Laury finished with 4,697 points in the heptathlon to take fifth place.
Jonathan Grant collected an eighth place finish in the long jump at 7.04m (23' 1.25"), as Samory Fraga finished 13th at 6.78m (22' 3").
Rachel Slingluff and Caroline Sauers ran in the 3,00m steeplechase, taking ninth (10:56.22) and 14th (11:27.00), respectively.
Advancing to Saturday's finals on the women's side are Jorian Ordway (400m – 55.04), Tyler Williams (400m – 55.05), Olivia Gaus (800m – 2:12.29), Olivia Davis (1,500m – 4:41.90) and Taylor Farquhar (400m hurdles – 59.40).
On the men's side, Wayne Gordon (100m dash – 10.47 | 200m dash – 21.09), Brian Smith (100m dash – 10.58 | 200m dash – 21.20), Jonathan Grant (100m dash – 10.66), William Barnes (200m dash – 21.22 | 110m hurdles), Matthew Tobin (400m dash – 47.66), Jacob Swords (800 – 1:51.10 and Richard Dahome (400m hurdles – 55.65) all advanced to the finals on Saturday.
Action from the final day of the MAC Championships begins at 10:00am on Saturday, May 14 with the men's pole vault final.
