Simonetti Selected in 13th Round by Washington Nationals

Kent State's Conner Simonetti was selected in the 13th round of the MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals in the third and final day on Saturday.
Simonetti put together a monster junior campaign, hitting .311 while smashing a team-high 17 homeruns for a .599 slugging percentage on the season. The junior added in 11 doubles and a triple to go along with 50 RBI this year. He was named Second Team All-MAC while also being recognized on the MAC All-Tournament Team this season.  Of the field, he was a Academic All-District honoree.
Simonetti is the only Golden Flash drafted by the Nationals since the 1966 season. He joins Eric Lauer (1st round, Padres) and Andy Ravel (7th round, Blue Jays) as the three Kent State players drafted this season.  All three were also drafted out of high school in 2013. The trio will all be assigned to their respective Minor League affiliate to start their professional careers in the coming weeks.
