Kent State senior safety Nate Holley (Toledo, Ohio) was named Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week Monday, following his performance against Penn State.
Holley led both sides with 17 tackles at Beaver Stadium. He had one tackle for loss and made a key stop on a Penn State two-point conversion attempt in the first quarter.
A game captain on Saturday, Holley helped the Flashes hold Penn State to just 71 yards rushing in the first half. The Flashes' defense forced four 3-and-outs and a 4-and-out, remaining within striking distance of the Nittany Lions until the game's final minutes.
A two-time All-MAC First Team selection, Holley has made 332 career tackles. He is also a two-time member of the Academic All-MAC Team. Earlier this summer, Holley was named to the Bednarik Award Watch List.
The Golden Flashes host their first of six home games Saturday, Sept. 10, against North Carolina A&T State at 6 p.m., followed by a fireworks display. Single game tickets, Season tickets, Family Season 4-Packs and 3-Game Mini Plans are on sale.
