The Golden Flashes will play three of their four non-conference games on the road in 2017, beginning with defending national champion Clemson Saturday, Sept. 2. The first program matchup with the Tigers also marks the second straight year Kent State will take on the previous season's winner of the College Football Playoff.
Dix Stadium's home opener will also be a first time program meeting when the Flashes host Howard on Saturday, Sept. 9. The following Saturday, an old rivalry is renewed with Marshall in Huntington, West Virginia.
The non-conference portion of the schedule closes out with a Sept. 23 trip to Louisville. The teams matched up 17 times from 1956-73, but will be meeting for the first time in 44 years.
Kent State's three MAC West crossover opponents from the 2016 schedule will also be on the 2017 schedule. The Flashes will host Central Michigan and will visit both Northern Illinois and Western Michigan.
MAC East rivals Bowling Green, Buffalo and Miami will all come to Dix Stadium. The Flashes will make in-state road trips to Akron and Ohio.
The Flashes' first spring practice is scheduled for March 1, while National Signing Day is set for Wednesday, Feb. 1.
