
Cross Country Heads to Penn State National Open for Final MAC Tune-up

Kent State cross country is back in action on Friday at the Penn State National Open. The race, held at the Penn State Blue-White Course, will serve as a final tune-up for the Golden Flashes ahead of the Mid-American Conference Championships at the end of the month.
The women's 6K race is scheduled to start the meet at 10:45 a.m. with the men's 5.2-mile race to follow at 11:30 a.m.
Last Time Out
Both the men's and women's teams had good showings at the All-Ohio Championships at Cedarville University on Sept. 29. The men placed fourth among Division I schools, while the women finished eighth.
Clark Bookman paced the Flashes with an 8K personal-best 25:21.1 to finish ninth. Grzegorz Kunc (25:42.6) and Sam Goodman (25:44.1) placed 18th and 19th, respectively.
Maddie Dunlap led the way for the women for the third time this year, as she shaved 15 second off her previous 6K time and finished in 22:12.3 for 13th. Olivia Davis (22:57.6) and Nicole Fleming (22:59.6) placed 35th and 36th, respectively.
Flashes at 2016 Penn State National Open
A year ago, Kent State's men's team finished 16th and the women's team finished 17th at the event. Clark Bookman (26:37.6) placed 85th and is top returner for the men, while Morgan Bing (22:36.5) placed 115th and is the top returner for the women.
