KENT, Ohio - The Kent State University men's basketball team has arrived in Savannah, Georgia to compete in the Savannah Invitational Nov. 24-25 against Valparaiso and Loyola Chicago.

- The Kent State University men's basketball team is headed to Savannah, Georgia for its first two out of state games of the year, participating in the 2017 Savannah Invitational.
- Kent State will face the two toughest tests of the first month of the season at the Savannah Civic Center. The Flashes will take on Valparaiso Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Loyola-Chicago Saturday at 5 p.m. Both teams enter the tournament at 5-0.
- Kent State is coming into the road trip fresh off its first loss of the season Tuesday at home against Southeastern Louisiana, 70-66. Kent State went down in a close contest due to timely 3-pointers late from the visiting team, including a 4-point play that swung momentum in the final two minutes.
- Although the Flashes had a let down Tuesday, Kent State has still been dominant against their first few opponents. Kent State holds an average scoring margin of +21.8, scoring 86.8 points per game.
- Following the tournament, Kent State will travel to Norfolk State Nov. 29 for the team's first true road game. The Flashes' next home game is Dec. 2 against Cleveland State.
- Valpo enters the game fresh off of two blowout wins to begin the tournament, beating Mississippi Valley State by 33 and Samford by 21.
- Kent State is 2-1 against the Crusaders. The last win for Kent State came on Dec. 14, 1991 in a 76-45 victory. Valpo's only win came on Nov. 18, 2012, 88-83 in overtime.
- Loyola-Chicago is also undefeated with wins over Samford and MVSU heading into the weekend. The team opened up the season with an 84-80 win over Wright State.
- Kent State is 2-4 against Loyola, but 2-2 after the 1960's. The two teams last played on Nov. 29, 2014 in a 69-61 Loyola victory.
