-Â Â Â Â The Kent State University men's basketball team returns to the M.A.C. Center Monday for the first of two home games this week, facing off against the Northeastern Huskies at 7 p.m.
-Â Â Â Â The Golden Flashes return to their home floor looking to build momentum heading into the Mid-American Conference season. The Flashes are coming off a tough road slate in which they dropped games to No. 13 Xavier, 96-71, and Wright State, 63-54.Â
-Â Â Â Â The Flashes did get good news before their matchup against the Raiders, as Jaylin Walker returned to action after sitting out for three games.Â
-Â Â Â Â Following Monday's game, the Flashes will play one more nonconference home game against Oregon State Thursday. It will be the first time Kent State has hosted a PAC 12 team.
-Â Â Â Â After this week's home slate, the Flashes will break for the holiday, then head to Albany for the nonconference finale on Dec. 28.Â
-Â Â Â Â Kent State is 0-2 against Northeastern all time, but have never played the Huskies at home.Â
-Â Â Â Â The Flashes lost last year in a back-and-forth battle, 73-70, in Boston. The previous matchup came on Dec. 30, 2009 in Santa Clara, California as part of the Cable Car Classic. The result was another one possession game, 61-58.Â
-Â Â Â Â Northeastern enters Monday's contest after a break for final exams. The Huskies are on a four game winning streak, with wins over Harvard, Cornell, Bucknell and Vermont.Â
-Â Â Â Â Monday's game will be a clash of styles when it comes to pace. While Kent State is operating at its fastest pace in the modern era, Northeastern averages 66.2 possessions per game, making them the 37th slowest team in the nation.Â
-Â Â Â Â The Huskies have been led for over a decade by head coach Dave Coen, who's coached in the Boston area for over 20 years. He previously had a run as an assistant at Boston College.Â
