Flash Facts |
- The Kent State University men's basketball team will look to win its fourth straight road game Saturday when it travels to Toledo for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
- The Golden Flashes will look to complete a season sweep of the Rockets, having defeated Toledo in the M.A.C. Center in front of a sold out crowd on Jan. 21, 85-61. Seniors Jimmy Hall and Deon Edwin scored 50 of Kent State's 85 points on a combined 21-for-32 shooting.
- The win over Toledo started a 4-2 run for the Flashes, in which both losses came in overtime. Three of the four wins have come on the road at Eastern Michigan, Miami and Northern Illinois. In all three road wins, the game has been a one-possession game in the final four minutes.
- The team will hope its road success continues, as four of the next six games are on the road.
- With seven games remaining, the Flashes are in the middle of a large pack in the Mid-American Conference. Nine of 12 teams are currently a half game away from .500, meaning the Flashes are within a game of the second seed in the MAC Tournament.
- This will be the 130th game between in-state rivals Toledo and Kent State. The Flashes have won 42 games in the series, dating back to Dec. 15, 1934.
- Kent State has had Toledo's number in recent years, having won eight of the last 11 matchups. They have also won 16 of the last 22 games, dating back to the 2000-2001 season.
- Toledo is in same mix as Kent State in the middle of the league. Since falling to Kent State, the Rockets have defeated Ohio on the road, 7976, and most recently defeated Eastern Michigan at home, 73-57.
- Tod Kowalczyk is in his seventh year with the Rockets. His previous coaching stop was an eight-year stint at Wisconsin-Green Bay.
