- The Kent State University men's basketball team will return to the M.A.C. Center Tuesday for its second game in a two week span against the Miami RedHawks.
- The Flashes are coming down the stretch of the regular season, with six games left on the schedule. Tuesday's game is one of three remaining home games left. Following Tuesday, the Flashes will compete at home against Ohio on Feb. 25 and Akron March 3 on Senior Night.
- The remaining road schedule includes games at Akron, Buffalo and Bowling Green.
- Currently, the Flashes are in the mix of four teams tied at 5-7, holding a 1-2 record against the group in the tiebreaker. However, Kent State is also two games removed from second place in the MAC.
- The Flashes are looking to snap a skid in which they have lost back-to-back games. First, the Flashes lost in a hotly contested overtime home game against Bowling Green. Saturday, Toledo invited Kent State to its arena and evened the season series. However, the Flashes are still winners of four of their last seven games.
- This will be the 141st meeting between Kent State and Miami, in a series dating back to 1948. The Flashes hold 50 wins against the RedHawks, as Miami controlled the series prior to the turn of the century. Since 2000, Kent State is 23-14 against Miami.
- Over the last two seasons, the MAC East foes have split the series, with each team winning at home. The Flashes' reversed the trend to start February, winning at Miami, 66-62.
- Miami is 10-15 on the season, with its most recent win coming at home against Central Michigan Saturday, 81-76. They have given teams fits this year, taking UCF to overtime and playing Akron to a four-point game.
- John Cooper is in year five with Miami, with his first head coaching stop coming at Tennessee State.
