Softball Hosts Ohio Tuesday for Home Opener

Kent State opens its home schedule with a Mid-American Conference doubleheader against Ohio. First pitch from the Diamond at Dix is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jacob Pavilack has the call on Golden Flashes iHeart Radio.
The Golden Flashes (13-18, 3-3 MAC) returned from an 11-day, 9-game road trip over Spring Break that spanned 2,169 miles from Michigan to Alabama. The Flashes concluded the trip with a 5-4 record with two of the losses coming in walk-off fashion.
Scouting Ohio (24-7, 5-1 MAC)
• Ohio's 11-game win streak was snapped Saturday in a 2-0 loss at Western Michigan.
• The Bobcats lead the MAC in batting average (.300) and on-base percentage (.381) and rank third in runs (163), hits (247), RBIs (148) and walks (100).
• INF Alex Day is amongst the top-10 in the conference in batting average (.394), on-base percentage (441), runs scored (27) and hits (41).
• 1B Morgan Geno leads the Bobcats with six home runs and 27 RBIs..
• Ohio has a strong pitching staff that leads the MAC in opponent batting average (.189) and strikeouts (264) and second in ERA (2.31).
• 2016 MAC Pitcher of the Year Savannah Jo Dorsey (14-3) leads the conference in ERA (1.39), opponent batting average (.147) and strikeouts (230). Dorsey ranks among the top-15 nationally in strikeouts per seven innings (10.1) and eighth in hits allowed per seven innings (3.54).
• P Danielle Stiene (8-3) ranks 20th in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings pitched (9.3) and is fourth in the MAC in opponent batting average (.213). Stiene carries a 2.52 ERA.
