CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second week in a row, senior Ronnie Ladines has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning. It is the eighth time that she has received the award during her collegiate career.
Ladines extended her scoreless-innings streak to 24 with a pair of shutouts on the final weekend of the regular season. Coming off a perfect game in her previous outing, Ladines took a no-hitter into the seventh inning on Friday before Bowling Green collected its first hit with one out. In her final appearance at the Diamond at Dix, Ladines tossed a two-hitter with eight strikeouts in a five-inning victory.
Winner of her last seven starts in the circle, Ladines owns a 0.65 ERA with 54 strikeouts and just six walks in 43 innings over that span.
Kent State (27-25) opens the MAC Softball Tournament as the hottest team in the conference as the winner of nine of the last 10 overall, as well as nine of the last 10 conference games. The fourth-seeded Golden Flashes will play No. 5 Ball State in the opening game of the double-elimination tournament Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
