The Mid-American Conference announced its 2017 Academic All-MAC team on Friday with Kent State leading the conference for the second-straight year with 11 honorees.
Golden Flashes Luke Burch, Reilly Hawkins, Josh Hollander, Mason Mamarella, Joey Murray, Dylan Rosa, Jared Skolnicki, Zach Spangler, Zach Willeman, Connor Wollersheim and Robert Zeigler all earned recognition.
Student-athletes earn Academic All-MAC honors by having at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and by participating in at least 50 percent of the contests during the current season. Freshman and first-year transfers are not eligible.
11 honorees for Kent State in 2017 ties the program record that was set a year ago, after the 2016 season. A total of 75 student-athletes were recognized by the conference with Eastern Michigan having ten honorees and Toledo nine.
The announcement solidifies Kent State as the leader in both academics and athletics. Along with leading the MAC in academic honorees for two straight years, the Golden Flashes have also won back-to-back regular season titles on the field.
