STILLWATER, Okla. – Junior Isaac Bast earned a convincing 7-1 victory, but No. 5 Oklahoma State cruised past Kent State 42-3 Sunday at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys improved to 8-1 on the season, while the Golden Flashes dropped to 11-6.
Bast controlled his match, allowing just one escape and building up riding time.
"Isaac was really tough for seven minutes." Head Coach Jim Andrassy said. "Our whole team wrestled hard, but Oklahoma State's guys transition really well from one move to another."
Freshman Colin McCracken stayed within striking distance throughout his 8-5 setback.
"He gave up a couple of close-call takedowns," Andrassy said of McCracken.
Sunday marked the Flashes' first program trip to Stillwater after the Cowboys came to the M.A.C. Center last season.
"You always want to win more matches, but it was a huge crowd and a great atmosphere for our guys to experience," Andrassy said.
The Golden Flashes will be off from competition next weekend, before visiting Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m.
