
Field Hockey to Hit the Road to Athens

KENT, Ohio –The Kent State University field hockey team is set to continue the Mid-American Conference schedule on the road at Ohio University on Friday, Oct. 19 at 3:00 p.m. The Flashes currently sit in second place in the conference, and will enter the game with a 3-1 conference record.
Last time out, the Golden Flashes split the weekend at Murphy-Mellis Field, defeating Ball State, 4-0, on Friday and falling to No. 21 Ohio State, 4-0, on Sunday. In its victory over Ball State, Kent State saw goals from four different players and junior goalkeeper Mary Crumlish recorded her second shutout of the season.
On the season, the Flashes are led offensively by sophomore Clara Rodriguez Setó, netting five goals with seven assists. The Barcelona, Spain native also leads the conference with four defensive saves.
Senior Jessica Apelt has also notched five goals with an assist on the season, while sophomores Hailie Balachick and Emma Bressler have added four goals apiece. In goal, Crumlish has racked up 63 saves on the year for a .656 save percentage.
SCOUTING OHIO UNIVERSITY
Ohio University will enter the game 4-8 overall with a 2-2 Mid-American Conference record. Last time out, the Bobcats fell to Longwood University, 4-3, as Lancer Leone Verstraete netted a hat trick on the day.
On the season, the Bobcats have netted 20 goals and are led by sophomore Jillian Shive with eight goals and an assist and Karynne Baker with five goals and four assists. Tayla Hansen, Brittany Keen, and Leah Warren have netted two goals apiece, and Emma Eggleston has added a goal to the Ohio attack. In the cage, senior Alex Pennington has recorded 34 saves with a .630 save percentage.
The Flashes have garnered a 49-26-2 all-time record against Ohio University, defeating the Bobcats, 1-0, a year ago.
