
Pink Meet Highlighted by Stypinski's Career-High All-Around and Floor Scores

KENT, Ohio – In its annual Pink Meet, the Kent State gymnastics team faced Mid-American Conference opponent Eastern Michigan. Despite the loss, 194.875-193.925, the Golden Flashes finished the meet with a 49.000 or better on three events.
The Golden Flashes scored a 46.575 on balance beam, 49.025 on uneven bars, and new season-highs of 49.000 on vault and 49.325 on floor exercise. Individually, senior Rachel Stypinski won balance beam (9.925), floor exercise (9.975), and the all-around (39.550).
Stypinski's all-around score tied her career-best which also is tied for third all-time in program history. The senior matched her career-high score on floor for the second time in her collegiate career. "Getting my second 9.975 and adding it to the list is really nice but I am hoping for that perfect 10 sometime," Stypinski says.
On vault, all six gymnasts on the lineup posted a 9.700 or higher. Stypinski and sophomore Sarah McCarty tied for third place (9.825), while freshman Abby Fletcher took fifth place (9.800).
The strongest event for Kent State was floor exercise dropping a season-high 49.325. Freshman Nasha Manitkul-Davis posted a career-high 9.900 tying her for second place. Senior Michaela Romito and junior Alyssa Quinlan tied their season-high score of 9.825 to tie for fifth place.
Senior Brooke Timko scored a career-high of 9.900, winning first place on uneven bars. Junior Sarah Lippowitsch and senior Michaela Romito also had career-bests on the event both scoring a 9.850 and tying for second place. Rachel Stypinski took fifth place with a 9.825.
Kent State will compete next in the Master's Classic quad meet in Lincoln, Nebraska on Sunday, March 4 at 1 p.m. The Golden Flashes will face Nebraska, Iowa State and UCLA.
