Murray Selected to All-American Third Team by Baseball America

KENT, Ohio – Kent State junior starting pitcher Joey Murray has been named All-American Third Team, as announced by Baseball America on Thursday (May 31). He also earned First Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Murray, the 2018 Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year and Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist, has posted the fourth most strikeouts in the nation (139). He also leads the country in hits allowed per nine innings (4.47), and 11th in earned run average (1.71). Murray's 306 career strikeouts rank second in Kent State history, and his 139 strikeouts this season tied the record for the most in MAC history. The Dublin, Ohio native is 9-1 this season with a 1.71 ERA in 95 innings of while and opponents are batting just .146 against him. Murray turned a complete game shutout with 15 strikeouts this season against Northern Illinois.
Last season, the junior garnered College Baseball All-American Second Team honors and ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-American recognition.
Kent State begins its quest for Omaha at the NCAA Lubbock Regional hosted by Texas Tech on Friday, June 1. The Golden Flashes will play from the No. 3 seed against No. 2 Louisville at 7 p.m. /6c.
