KENT, Ohio – Kent State field hockey's Ines Delpech has earned 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Women's At-Large First Team honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.
A 2017 Academic All-America® Second Team honoree, Delpech is the first Golden Flash to earn first team honors from CoSIDA as part of the 14-sport At-Large category that includes beach volleyball, bowling, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, rowing, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.
Delpech boasted a perfect 4.0 GPA while earning her degree in sociology. In May, she was named a co-recipient of the Janet Bachna Award, which is presented to a Kent State senior female student-athlete who displays athletic, academic and leadership excellence.
On the field, she earned NFHCA All-West Region Second Team, All-MAC First Team and Mid-American Conference All-Tournament Team honors while being selected to participate in the 2017 NFHCA Senior Game this past fall. Delpech played nearly every minute for the Flashes and was the leader of a defense that ranked 18th nationally in shutouts per game. She was second on the team with six goals and 14 points.
During her Kent State career, Delpech led Kent State to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and MAC regular season titles (2014-16). She was a NFHCA Third Team All-American in 2016 in addition to being a three-time NFHCA All-West Region selection, a four-time All-MAC selection and a four-time MAC All-Tournament Team selection.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. In order to be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and maintain at least a 3.30 grade point average.
