DES MOINES, Iowa — Former Kent State All-American Reggie Jagers III recorded one of the biggest victories of his career during Sunday's final day of the 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships at Drake Stadium. Jagers III needed a lifetime throw of 68.61 meters (225'-1") to take home the men's discus throw title.
The southpaw's impressive mark is the best by a left-handed thrower all-time and ranks fifth in the 2018 world outdoor rankings.
Jagers III set the facility record with his victory at the Drake Relays in April, but that record was bested three times during the competition prior to his fifth attempt, with which he topped his personal-best throw entering the meet by nearly three meters.
The former Golden Flash, who has now claimed victory in five of nine discus competitions this season, will represent the United States of America at the Athletics World Cup London 2018 on 14-15 July 2018
Riak Reese competed in the men's 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Reese ran a personal-best 10.14, which ranks third in the Kent State record book, to advance to the 100m semifinals, where he clocked a 10.27 to finish 13th. His 200m first round time of 21.03 would have advanced him to the semifinals, but he was DQ'd for stepping on the line.
