
Eight Track and Field Student-Athletes, Women’s Team Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Kent State's women's track and field team and eight individuals from the men's and women's programs have been honored with All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
In order to earn All-Academic Team distinction, a program must have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA. The Golden Flashes' women's team owns a 3.413 cumulative GPA following outstanding work in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year. The team had the second-best term in program history by posting a 3.471 GPA during the fall and followed with a 3.437 for the second-highest spring GPA in program history.
Individually, eight Flashes earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. The men's team was represented by Trevor Detillion, Samory Fraga, TJ Lawson and Walter Petzel, while Maria Horrigan, Sam Tollerud, Vanessa Vodan and Nicole Yeargin represented the women's squad. Tollerud concludes her career as a four-time honoree, while Detillion, Fraga, Lawson and Horrigan were each recognized for the second time.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the athletic standards set by the USTFCCCA.
For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
