Kent State recently announced the addition of Patrick Gould (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) to its incoming freshman class. Expected to compete at either 133 or 141, Gould is currently the eighth highest ranked senior in the nation at 138 pounds by FloWrestling.
"Patrick might be the highest rated recruit we've had since Ian Miller (in 2011)," Head Coach Jim Andrassy said. "We're really excited to have a kid with his type of credentials and see what he can do after a few years in the program."
Gould is a three-time state qualifier at East Stroudsburg South High School and a two-time state place winner in Pennsylvania. He has over 100 career victories with 28 pins. In back-to-back seasons, he won 132-pound titles at the Donegal Holiday Tournament.
"He wrestles in all positions really well," Andrassy said. "He's competed at a couple of different national tournaments in the offseason and has really proven himself there with a lot of wins over nationally ranked opponents."
The addition of Gould brings Kent State's recruiting class to six members. He joins: Chris Langguth (Rootstown, Ohio), Avry Mutschler (Lowell, Mich.), James Limongi (Genoa, Ohio), Jacob Sherman (Columbus, Ohio) and Earl Blake (Frederick, Md.).
The Golden Flashes return to action Jan. 11-12 at the Virginia Duals.
