Wrestling Opens Season With Kent State Duals

KENT, OHIO- The Golden Flashes wrestling team will kick-off the 2019-2020 season with the Kent State Duals on Saturday afternoon starting at one inside the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes will take on Edinboro, Ashland and Mercyhurst Northeast in the season opener. The first dual of the day will be a Mid-American Conference dual with Kent State wrestling Edinboro, one of the new MAC wrestling members. Simultaneously, Ashland will take on Mercyhurst Northeast, as the duals will have two mats running all afternoon. The full schedule for Saturday can be seen below.

Head coach Jim Andrassy will be running out the following line-up for Saturday's duals.
125- Jake Ferri or Earl Blake
Jake Ferri is coming off a 14-19 sophomore season that saw him go 8-11 in duals. Earl Blake is part of an exciting freshman class for the Golden Flashes. Blake went 48-0 as a senior last year and was a 4x Maryland State champion.
133- Tim Rooney
Rooney is one of two MAC ranked wrestlers for the Golden Flashes as he comes in at #3 at 133 pounds. Rooney earned a trip to the NCAA tournament last season with a 3-1 showing at the MAC Championships. He went 24-15 overall last season with eight dual wins.
141- Cory Simpson
Simpson is coming off a sophomore season that saw him go 16-28 overall with five dual wins. He came on strong to end the 2018-19 season, earning a sixth-place finish at the MAC Championships.
149-Kody Komara
Komara won 19 matches last season, good for third on the team and included six dual wins. He had strong showings at the Clarion and Navy Opens, finishing fourth in both tournaments.
157- Brady Chrisman
The redshirt freshman went 13-10 last season wrestling at 165 but will drop down to 157 for this dual. He went 3-2 at the Edinboro Open last season and will look to have similar success on Saturday.
165- James Limongi or Kade Byland
Kade Byland is coming off a 10-win season in 2018-19 including a pair of dual wins. He finished seventh at the MAC Championships. Limongi would be making his collegiate debut on Saturday, he was a two-time state champion for Genoa High School in Toledo.
174-Andrew McNally
McNally led the squad with 33 wins last season at 184 and will wrestle at 174 on Saturday. McNally went 16-4 in duals last season and earned a place in the NCAA Championships after finishing second at the MAC Championships. He joins Tim Rooney as the second of the two MAC ranked wrestlers, checking in at #3 in the MAC at 174.
184- Lane Hinkle or Tyler Bates
Bates went 15-9 last season but did not wrestle in any duals as a freshman. He did place third at the Edinboro Open, going 3-1, his top finish of the season.
Hinkle earned 12 victories last season as a sophomore and is slotted into the 184-spot for Saturday. He picked up two pins and went 5-1 in last year's Edinboro Open, earning him a fifth-place finish.
197-Colin McCracken
McCracken went 16-8 last season, including a win at the Lake Erie Storm Open with a perfect 4-0 record. Already this season, McCracken wrestled at the U-23 Freestyle Nationals, placing sixth at 197.
Heavyweight-Spencer Berthold
Berthold earned 15 victories last season including seven dual victories. His nine pins in 2018-19 were second on the team and he went 2-0 at last year's Kent State Duals.
