Gymnastics Heads to Bowling Green for MAC Matchup

KENT, Ohio – Kent State gymnastics heads to Bowling Green, Ohio this Sunday, Feb. 17 to take on the Falcons at 2 p.m. This will be the third Mid-American Conference matchup this season for the Golden Flashes.
The Flashes are ranked 51st in the nation with an average all-around score of 193.175. Kent State ranks fourth in the MAC on uneven bars and beam with averages of 48.444 and 48.331, respectively.
Senior Dara Williams is fourth in the MAC on uneven bars averaging a 9.775. In her latest meet, Williams matched her season-high 9.825 against Central Michigan. Williams also leads Kent State on vault ranking sixth in the conference with a 9.769 average. The senior posted a season-best 9.800 in the same meet and picked up her fifth event win in four meets.
Junior Jade Brown is also a strong leader for the Golden Flashes bars rotation tying for fifth in the MAC with an average of 9.767. Senior Kennedy Plude and freshman Riley Danielson tie for fifth place in the conference on balance beam (9.719), while sophomore Abby Fletcher is 11th on floor exercise (9.781).
Last Time Out
Kent State hosted Central Michigan in its Beauty and the Beast meet where the Golden Flashes were edged by the Chippewas, 195.175-194.925. The Flashes posted season-high scores of 48.575 on vault and 49.000 on floor.
Both Williams and Fletcher finished in a four-way tie with a season-best 9.800 on vault.
On floor, Fletcher earned her first individual title of the season with a 9.850. Junior Sarah McCarty scored a 9.825 to finish third. Freshmen Madison Iannuzzo and Madison Trott both posted a 9.775 and junior Jade Brown earned a 9.750 to help the Flashes earn a 49.000, their top score in any event this season.
Williams also tied for first with a 9.825 to claim her third consecutive title on uneven bars. Brown, Iannuzzo and Trott all earned a 9.725 to tie for fifth.
Senior Kennedy Plude led the way on beam with a 9.800 to finish tied for third.
Scouting Bowling Green
Bowling Green is 52nd in the nation with an all-around average of 193.010. The Falcons best event is vault where they are No. 25 in the country with a 48.820. In its last meeting, Bowling Green finished third in a tri-meet with a 192.625 against Ball State and Lindenwood.
Junior Jovannah East is a strong competitor for the Falcons on balance beam, uneven bars and floor exercise. On beam, East leads the MAC with an average of 9.830. She is second on vault and sixth on floor with a 9.790.
Junior Taylor Worthington and senior Lauren DeMeno are also leaders in the vault lineup for Bowling Green. Worthington is third in the conference (9.780), while DeMeno is fifth (9.770).
Senior Leslie Delgado ranks second on bars with a 9.795 average.
Series History
Kent State is 76-21 all-time against Bowling Green. The Golden Flashes have dominated the series since the 2002 MAC Championships, owning a 37-3 record. In the last meeting, the Flashes defeated the Falcons, 196.625-195.400.
