Flashes Host Chippewas as Part of Beauty and the Beast

KENT, Ohio – Kent State gymnastics hosts Central Michigan on Sunday at 1 p.m. as part of the Beauty and the Beast event. The fan-favorite event, which features the gymnastics and wrestling teams competing simultaneously in the M.A.C. Center, returns after a one-year hiatus.
Beauty and the Beast
This will be the fifth Beauty and the Beast meet that Kent State has hosted. The unique event provides fans with an opportunity to enjoy the different aspects of both sports at the same time. Beauty and The Beast will be in attendance to mingle with fans and take photos during the event.
Following the conclusion of the competition, there will be a joint autograph session featuring student-athletes from both teams. For more information on the co-hosted event, read the Beauty and the Beast release.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes finished in third place at the NIU Quad with an overall score of 192.075. The Huskies posted a winning score of 194.500, while Lindenwood finished second with a 194.350. Seattle Pacific finished fourth with a team score of 190.625.
The Flashes won beam, posting a season-high team score of 48.900. Kent State finished second on vault, third on bars and fourth on floor.
Senior Kennedy Plude recorded a season-high 9.825 to tie for third on beam, while junior Sarah Lippowitsch matched a career-high 9.800 on bars sand tied for sixth place along with sophomore Abby Fletcher. Freshman Cami Klein scored a career-high 9.750 to finish in 10thplace.
Senior Dara Williams grabbed her third individual title this season with a score of 9.825 on bars, while junior Jade Brown tied for third place with a 9.775. Junior Gabby Williams tied for fifth place with career-high score of 9.750.
Scouting Central Michigan
The Chippewas (8-1) are ranked 37th in the nation with an all-around average of 194.255. Last week, Central Michigan defeated Illinois State, 194.200-191.725.
Central Michigan has been a high performer at home this season posting an average 195.075 from its two home meets. On the road, that average drops to 193.708 in three meets.
The Chippewas rank second in the MAC with an overall score of 48.645 on bars and 48.750 on floor. Junior Denelle Pedrick is sixth in the conference on bars with an average 9.765, while senior Abbie Zoeller ranks 13th with an average of 9.710. On floor, sophomore Nora Fettinger ranks third with an average of 9.820, and senior Macey Hilliker is tied for 10th with a 9.775 average.
Series History
Kent State is 33-48 all-time vs. Central Michigan. In its last meeting, Kent State fell short by 0.025 to Central Michigan, 196.150-196.125 in Mt. Pleasant.
