CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State senior Pavin Parks was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week after leading the Flashes to a thrilling 12-inning win over Indiana March 27, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. The two-way player started all three games last week at second base and batting in the heart of the lineup while also collecting his first win on the bump this season.
Stepping to the mound in Bloomington in the eighth inning, Parks closed the door on the Hoosiers to hold the tie and force extra innings before eventually picking up the win in the 12th inning. The Uniontown, Ohio native tossed 4.2 innings of relief, striking out a season-high eight batters. With the victory over the Hoosiers, Kent State is now 4-0 against Big Ten opponents and snapped Indiana's eight-game winning streak.
Parks started the game at second base and hitting clean-up, scoring three runs (including the winning run) with an RBI and two walks.
Offensively on the season, he ranks in the top-10 of the MAC in walks (17) and has hit three home runs.
Next up, the Flashes will host Malone for a midweek matchup at Schoonover Stadium on Tuesday, April 2 at 4 p.m.
