KENT, Ohio- Kent State senior point guard Jalen Avery was recently recognized by the NCAA as the 2018-19 Division I statistical champion for assist/turnover ratio. This is the second-straight season Avery has been named a statistical champion and the program's second honoree as he was last season's leader for assist/turnover ratio.
This past season, Avery led the Golden Flashes in both assists (101) and minutes played (1056), but committed just 20 turnovers.
At 5.05, Avery was one of just two players in the nation with an assist turnover ratio above 4.0. Iowa State's Tyrese Haliburton was second at 4.46.
Avery left his mark during his career at Kent State and will be known as one of the most sure-handed point guards in the MAC. He started the last 81 games he played in over the last three seasons and was a two-year caption. The senior played 127 games in a Kent State uniform and finished with 899 career-points and 327 assists.
