Conference Leading 12 Student-Athletes Named Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State had a Mid-American Conference leading 12 student-athletes earn Academic All-MAC honors, as announced by the conference office Tuesday (June 11).
Seniors Hunter Brancifort, Bailey Brownfield and Jen Cader were each garnered recognition with Brancifort earning her third career honor.
Junior Maria Cegledy commands a perfect 4.00 GPA and was named Academic All-MAC for the second time in her career. She was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team this season and became the first Golden Flash win the prestigious award since 2015.
Both of Kent State's specialty award winners; Player of the Year Brenna Brownfield, and Pitcher and Freshman of the Year Andrea Scali were named Academic All-MAC. The Golden Flashes became the first team in conference history to win the Player, Pitcher and Freshman of the Year awards in the same season.
The Academic All-MAC Team honors student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
