
Golden Flashes to Host Weekend Series Against Bowling Green at Devine Diamond

KENT – Kent State Softball (14-16, 4-5 MAC) is back in action this weekend against the Falcons of Bowling Green State University. The series begins with a doubleheader on Friday, April 3 with start times of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The series concludes Saturday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m. The games will be streamed via BoxCast and live stats for each game will be available on the Kent State Softball schedule page.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes fell in a hard fought three-game sweep at Miami (OH) University this past weekend (March 27-28). The Flash bats came alive late in game one with Caleigh Shaulis hitting her first career grand slam in the sixth. KSU got three more home in the seventh but Miami (OH) walked it off 8-7. Game two was a back-and-forth nine-inning affair with the Golden Flashes jumping out to a 7-3 lead behind a big fourth inning highlighted by RBI contributions from Brynn Libler, Caleigh Shaulis, and Ashlyn Porter. The RedHawks ultimately walked off in the bottom of the ninth. The series finale saw the Flashes grab just two runs on seven hits in a 10-2 loss. Ashlyn Porter had a strong series offensively, going 5-for-11 with multiple multi-hit games, while Libler and Shaulis also provided consistent production throughout the weekend. The Golden Flashes will look to regroup as MAC play continues this weekend against BGSU.
Scouting Bowling Green
The Bowling Green Falcons enter this weekend with a .500 record of 15-15, while holding a 3-6 record in the MAC. Most recently, they took one game out of three against the University at Buffalo this past weekend (March 27-28). The Falcons are hitting a collective .273 with some standout contributors. Addie Martin leads the way with a .333 average, 8 home runs, and 28 RBI, while Cameron Kaufman (.318) and Taylor Behrendt (.330) give them a solid top of the lineup. In the circle, Mackenzie Krafcik has carried the load with a 2.70 ERA and an 8-6 record across 85.2 innings. Defensively, BGSU has committed 39 errors on the season (.956 fielding percentage) and have allowed 40 stolen base attempts.
On Deck for the Flashes
The Golden Flashes take on the University of Akron Zips in a midweek three-game series that gets underway on Tuesday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Firestone Stadium in Akron. The series wraps up on Wednesday, April 8 with a home doubleheader at Devine Diamond. First pitch times are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
