Baseball Places 11 on Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the fourth consecutive season, the Kent State University baseball team has placed 11 student-athletes on the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, as announced by the conference office Tuesday (June 18).
Kent State boasts the second-most honorees in the conference behind Western Michigan's 13 of 74 total student-athletes recognized.
Seniors Josh Hollander, Chris Martin, Kian O'Brien, Pete Schuler and Connor Wollersheim each garnered recognition with Hollander, Martin and Wollersheim earning their third career honor. Schuler also received Academic All-MAC honors in 2018 while O'Brien was named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week and Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-District during the 2019 season.
Redshirt sophomore Ben Carew adds yet another honor for his decorated 2019 campaign after being named NCBWA Third Team All-American, ABCA Second Team All-Region and First Team All-MAC for his accomplishments on the field. During the season, he also received MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week and Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition.
Junior Zach Schultz also earned recognition for the second consecutive season.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in both athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
