KENT, Ohio — The Kent State Department of Athletics and The Golden Flashes Club are proud to announce 100-percent participation in the annual staff giving campaign for the second year in a row. Every athletics employee made a gift in support of The Golden Flashes Club, scholarships, or individual teams for the 2019 fiscal year.
"I am extremely proud that our coaches and staff have stepped up to support our 450 student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Joel Nielsen. "Their generosity goes a long way in helping us fulfill our mission of graduating student-athletes and winning championships."
With over 2,100 members and $1.6 million raised in the 2019 fiscal year, The Golden Flashes Club continues to see positive growth in both membership and dollars. From scholarships to facility upgrades, equipment and travel expenses, Kent State's student-athletes benefit from our generous donors in numerous manners.
"No one knows how much effort our student-athletes put into their classwork and their sport better than our coaches and athletics staff," said Associate AD for Athletics Advancement J Locklier. "It is awesome to see our coaches and staff lead by example and support our student-athletes."
The Golden Flashes Club began the 2020 fiscal year on July 1st and looks to continue to build momentum and increase support heading into the new sports season.
