KENT, Ohio – Kent State's Vice President & Director of Athletics Randale L. Richmond elevated Chelsea Perry to the associate athletics director, athletics chief of staff position.
"I'm really looking forward to the impact Chelsea will have in this new role and am excited to have her join our Executive Leadership Team," said Richmond. "She is a high-level executor and is exceptionally organized. Those skills will be of great benefit to our entire athletics department."
Perry joined the Kent State University athletic staff in December 2019 and is currently the associate athletics director and chief of staff. In this role, she serves as the department's liaison to Human Resources, coordinates with the University President and Cabinet, oversees organizational planning, departmental communications, and strategic initiatives. She also oversees student-athlete development and serves as sport administrator for the men's and women's cross country and track & field programs.
"I am honored to step into the athletics chief of staff role and continue to serve Kent State student-athletes, coaches, and staff in this new capacity," said Perry. "I would like to thank Randale for the opportunity to grow as I take on this role, and for his leadership and vision for our department. I am excited to help lead initiatives that enhance the student-athlete experience, strengthen collaboration across athletics, and support our mission to graduate student-athletes, boldly prepared for life after sport, and win championships."
Before transitioning to the Athletics Director's office, Perry was the assistant athletic director for academic services, where she managed academic progress and eligibility for football and baseball, supervised the athletic academic counseling staff, and coordinated the department's annual NCAA APR and GSR reporting. Before that, she was the associate director for compliance and eligibility coordinator in the athletic compliance office.
Perry joined the Golden Flashes from Malone University (DII), where she served as the admissions counselor for athletics before becoming the institution's primary NCAA compliance coordinator.
A native of Canton, Ohio, Perry earned her B.A. in Sport Management and M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Malone, where she was also a member of the swim and dive program.
