KENT, OHIO- For the second time in three weeks, Kent State punter Derek Adams has earned the Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week.
Adams again proved pivotal in flipping the field against #8 Auburn on Saturday night. The redshirt junior punted seven times against the Tigers, averaging over 43 yards per punt including three over 50 yards with a long of 54. The Manheim, Pennsylvania native also placed a pair inside the 20-yard line against the Tigers. This season Adams is 9-for-19 in dropping punts inside an opponent's 20 and has seven punts over 50 yards.
This makes it three-straight Special Teams Players of the Week for Kent State, with Adams winning the honor in weeks one and three and place kicker Matthew Trickett earning the honor in week two.
Adams and the Golden Flashes return home on Saturday for their 2019 homecoming game against the Bowling Green Falcons. Kick-off from Dix Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m.
