CLEVELAND, OHIO- Kent State junior punter Derek Adams was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week as announced by the Conference on Monday morning.
Adams was critical in flipping field position in the Golden Flashes' favor against Arizona State on Thursday evening. The Manheim, Pa native averaged over 44 yards on his nine punts with three of them topping 50 yards, including a long of 60.
The junior had five of his nine punts landing inside the Arizona State 20 yard. Two of those five punts pinned the Sun Devils inside their own five-yard line. The five punts inside the 20-yard line matched a career high, last set in 2016 against the Ohio Bobcats.
Adams and the Golden Flashes host Kennesaw State this Saturday in the 2019 home opener. Kick-off from Dix Stadium is set for noon on ESPN3 and the Golden Flashes Radio Network.
