Kent State Loses Weekend Opener at Cleveland State

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Kent State volleyball teams fell 3-0 (13-25, 17-25, 17-25) to Cleveland State inside of Woodling Gymnasium on Friday evening's opening night of the Golden-Viking Invitational.
Senior Ashley Makruski led the way with eight kills but the Golden Flashes (6-5) posted a season-low .000 hitting percentage, as the host Vikings controlled play at the net with 14 blocks.
Junior Natalie Tagala had a double-double for the third match in a row with 14 assists and 11 digs.
Freshman Savannah Matthews led the defense with 14 digs, while sophomore Erin Gardner added 11 digs. Freshman Morgan Copley had a team-high four blocks.
Kent State returns to action Saturday afternoon against Niagara inside of the M.A.C. Center at 1 p.m.
