Gymnastics Heads to George Washington for Quad Meet

Kent, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team is heading to our nation's capitol this Sunday, January 19th for the George Washington Quad. They will face off against George Washington, Pennsylvania and Cornell.
Kent is currently ranked 47th in the country after a tough opening loss to Northern Illinois, 193.175-193.125.
Last Time Out
Senior Jade Brown and freshman Karlie Franz tied for the floor title, scoring a 9.825. Franz also added 9.700 on both vault and beam in her first collegiate meet. Brown also tied for second on bars with a score of 9.775. Sophomore Madison Trott scored a 9.750 on bars and freshman Rachel DeCavitch recorded a 9.675 on the event.
DeCavitch finished third in all-around with a 38.650. She posted a 9.775 on beam, a 9.675 on vault and a 9.525 on floor in her first meet as a Golden Flash.
Scouting the Competition
George Washington is ranked 41st with an overall team score of 193.775 in their first meet of the season. They rank 16th in the country on both vault and beam. Senior Cydney Crasa and sophomore Deja Chambliss lead the Colonials on vault with season-high scores of 9.850. Sophomore Olivia Zona paces GW on beam, scoring a 9.850 in their first meet.
Pennsylvania is currently ranked 54th after their first meet with an overall score of 191.425. Sophomore Sydney Kraez leads Penn's 34th-ranked floor unit, scoring a 9.800 in the first meet. Four of their five counting scores were at least a 9.750.
Cornell looks to start strong in its first meet this Friday, January 17th where they will face Towson, West Chester and William & Mary. The Big Red finished the 2019 season ranked 59th in the country. Â

The Flashes will travel to Fort Worth, Texas to compete at the host site of the 2020 NCAA Gymnastics Championships against Texas Women's University, Lindenwood and UW Oshkosh.
