Cross Country Heads to Start Line Friday at Tommy Evans Invitational

4he Kent State cross country teams will step to the start line at Silver Creek Metro Park Friday for the season-opening Tommy Evans Invitational. The women's 6K race is scheduled for 1 p.m., with the men's 8K race to follow around 1:45 p.m.
The Golden Flashes' women have eight runners slated to run. Nicole Fleming leads the way after being the team's top finisher in the final five races last season, including a 16th-place showing at the Mid-American Conference Championships. Maddie Dunlap, who finished fourth in her only race a year ago, will make her return to the course.
Drew Johnson and Alex Stamper were the most consistent runners for the men's team in 2019 and look to lead a Flashes squad that will have five of the top six competitors from last year's conference meet in action.
