Flashes Return Home to Host George Washington

Kent, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team will return home this Sunday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. to compete against George Washington for the second time this season. When the teams met last, the Flashes took the victory outscoring George Washington 195.325-193.225.
The Golden Flashes are coming off of their second-consecutive quad win with wins over Texas Woman's, Lindenwood, and UW-Oshkosh. The Flashes posted a season-high 49.100 on floor, a 48.850 on vault, a 48.825 on bars and a 48.125 on beam.
Freshman Karlie Franz was named Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week, scoring a career-high 9.850 on floor, a career-high 9.825 on bars, a 9.775 on vault and a 9.750 on beam to finish with a career-high all-around score of 39.200.
Franz is the second Golden Flash already this season to be named MAC Gymnast of the Week, following her fellow classmate Rachel DeCavitch. The duo is the first Kent State duo since 2011 to win back-to-back gymnasts of the week.
Freshman Olivia Amodei recorded a career-high 9.800 on bars, a career-high 9.725 on beam, a 9.800 on vault and a 9.800 on floor to finish second in the all-around competition with a 39.125.
About George Washington
George Washington is coming off a second-place finish in their quad meet yesterday despite scoring a season-high 195.375. The Colonels couldn't match Pittsburgh's outstanding performance but picked up wins over West Virginia and William & Mary.
Senior Cydney Crasa took home the floor title with a 9.875. She also finished third on vault with a 9.800. Sophomore Simone Banen finished second on bars (9.875), while junior Hannah Cohen picked up a second-place finish on beam (9.900).
Next Up
The Golden Flashes will host Cornell on Friday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. This will be the second time the teams have met this season. The first time the teams met this season the Flashes outscored Cornell 195.325-191.375.
