Crum and Lawrence-Burke Take Home MAC Honors

KENT, OHIO- A pair of Kent State veterans, quarterback Dustin Crum and linebacker Mandela Lawrence-Burke, have been named the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week by the Mid-American Conference for their efforts in the 34-27 win at Ohio on Saturday.
Crum had a very efficient game for the Golden Flashes on Saturday, completing 26-of-31 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown in the victory. Crum also rushed for 93 yards and another score. The Grafton, Ohio native led an offensive that racked up 457 yards and did not commit a turnover.
Lawrence-Burke led a defense that forced a trio of turnovers against the Bobcats on Saturday. He finished with a season-high 14 tackles, including seven solo. Lawrence-Burke also had a forced fumble, a quarterback hurry, and a tackle for loss. The Steubenville, Ohio native stopped a goal line run behind the line of scrimmage, forcing Ohio to settle for a field goal late in the fourth quarter. The veteran linebacker led a defense that held Ohio to 135 yards rushing, well below its season average of 201.
The Kent State victory moves them to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play. At 3-1, the Golden Flashes are tied atop the division with the Miami Redhawks and sets up a clash of division leaders on Wednesday, November 3rd against Northern Illinois. Kick time from Dix Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
