KENT, Ohio – The Kent State men's basketball team (0-1) will begin its home schedule with a matchup against Oberlin College (2-0) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. inside the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes have won their last 15 home openers dating back to the 2005-06 season. They will look to extend that streak to 16 straight when the Yeomen come to town.
Rob Senderoff's Golden Flashes have dominated at the MACC, creating one of the best home court advantages in the Mid-American Conference. Over the past 10 seasons, the Flashes hold a 118-41 (.742) record at home. Kent State hasn't lost more than four home games in a single season since 2016-17, and the team has a 50-13 record at home during that time.
Kent State is coming off a tough performance on the road at Xavier. The Flashes led for the first 28 minutes of the game before falling to the Musketeers, 73-59. Sincere Carry led the team with 18 points in his Golden Flashes debut. He added a team-high four assists and recorded three rebounds.
Justyn Hamilton (13) and Giovanni Santiago (10) were the other two Flashes with double digit performances. Santiago continued where he left off beyond the arc in 2020-21, going 2-for-3 from deep against Xavier. Malique Jacobs led the Flashes with nine rebounds, one shy of his career high. He added six points.
