
Flashes Send Seniors Out With 3-1 Win Over Ohio

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State volleyball team finished its 2021 season on a high note and sent its seniors off with a four-set victory over Ohio on Wednesday night at the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes (12-18, 7-11 MAC) honored Danie Tyson, Hannah Johnson and Melissa Kolurbasi after their last match at Kent State. The electric senior duo led the way for Kent State in their last career matches. Tyson and Kolurbasi powered the Flashes' offense, tying for the team lead with 14 kills each. Tyson hit an impressive .571, while Kolurbasi hit .382.
After dropping the opening set, 25-23, the Flashes stormed back and won set number two by the same score. The Flashes won the final two sets in decisive fashion to earn the victory.
Jacqlyn Caspers led the team in hitting percentage with an impressive .647 while finishing third on the team with 11 kills. She also posted a team-high six block assists. Alex Haffner recorded 49 assists and came up one-dig short of her 12th double-double of the season. Erin Gardner led the team with 16 digs.
The Bobcats hit under .300 in all four sets, while the Flashes were over .300 in each of the first three sets. Kent State recorded 10 blocks on the evening with Ohio totaling just six.
