
Flashes Sweep MAC Weekly Awards

KENT, OHIO-Â The Golden Flashes swept the Mid-American Conference weekly awards with Dustin Crum, Nico Bolden and Andrew Glass each earning recognition for their role in the 52-47 MACtion win over Northern Illinois.
Dustin Crum earned his second-straight Offensive Player of the Week award. He threw for 322 yards, his third 300 yard game of the season, while tossing a pair of touchdowns. He added 72 more yards on the ground and two more touchdowns. Crum notched a pair of milestones in the victory, topping 8,000 yards of total offense in his career and his 45th and 46th career TD passes. He is only the third player in school history to top 8,000 career yards joining Josh Cribbs and Spencer Keith and is second to only Jose Davis (57) in touchdown passes. Crum also earned a spot on the Manning Award Star of the Week list for the second time this season. Fans can vote for Crum to be "top star" by voting here.
Nico Bolden took home Defensive Player of the Week honors after he led the team with 12 tackles in the win over NIU, his second-straight game with 12 stops. Bolden also had one of the biggest plays of the game, forcing a first-half fumble that he then recovered in the Kent State red zone. It was the only turnover of the game and proved crucial in the five-point win.
Andrew Glass secured Special Teams Player of the Week honors after he enjoyed a perfect kicking day for the Flashes. Glass knocked home a 39-yard field goal and hit all seven of his extra points. Glass also limited the Northern Illinois return game. On nine kick-offs, Glass allowed just two returns, totaling just 35 yards. The Huskies had come in to the contest, third in the MAC, averaging over 22 yards per return.Â
The win over Northern Illinois moved Kent State to 5-4 on the season and 4-1 in MAC play. They hit the road on Wednesday for the final MACtion game on the schedule, a 8 p.m. kick-off at Central Michigan. Wednesday's game will air on ESPN U and the Kent State Radio Network.
