Fenton and Ferri Go Undefeated at Huskie Duals

DeKALB, IL- Brendon Fenton (3-0) and Jake Ferri (2-0, 1 forfeit) led the Golden Flashes at the Huskie Duals on Saturday afternoon at Northern Illinois.
Ferri got the day started off in fine fashion, earning a 9-6 victory over Bryce West in a match-up of top-3 wrestlers at 125 pounds according to the MAC pre-season rankings. Fenton followed up with a 2-0 sudden victory for his first of three wins on the day. Kody Komara picked up a nice win at 149 pounds, 6-5 over Anthony Cheloni, in a match-up of top-six MAC wrestlers. After NIU picked up some narrow victories, Tyler Bates grinded out a 3-1 win at 197 pounds.
In the Flashes' second bout of the day, Ferri again picked up a solid win. The Massachusetts native earned a 6-4 victory over Tanner Jordan to give Kent State the early lead. Fenton followed suit, earning a 5-2 victory over Caleb Gross. The Jackrabbits were able to earn victories in the remaining matches in the dual. In the finale, the Flashes were able to control the match with Harper College, earning a 39-10 victory. Fenton made it a clean sweep of the day, earning a 4-2 victory in the opening match. Louis Newell controlled his match from the start and earned a second-period tech fall. Bobby Pryhocki, James Limongi and Tyler Bates all were able to pick up victories by fall in their respective matches. Brady Chrisman earned a major decision victory while Colin McCracken earned a 10-6 victory by decision.
The full results from Saturday are noted below. Kent State will be back in action on Tuesday, taking on the Edinboro Scots on Tuesday in a second road-MAC match for the Golden Flashes. The dual starts at 2 p.m.
