
Kent State Wraps 2021 at Edinboro Dual

KENT, OHIO- The Golden Flashes are back in action again on Tuesday, traveling to take on the Edinboro Scots in a conference dual and the final contest of the 2021 calendar year.
LAST TIME OUT
Brendon Fenton and Jake Ferri led the Golden Flashes the last time out at the Huskie Duals. Fenton went 3-0 on his afternoon while Ferri went 2-0 and picked up a victory via forfeit. Kody Komara picked up a big win against Northern Illinois while Tyler Bates went 2-1 on his day on Saturday including a victory by fall.
SCOUTING EDINBORO
The Scots come into the dual at 1-4 in duals so far this season. They dropped a pair at the Binghamton Duals and lost to Buffalo in their only MAC contest so far this season.
They were picked fourth in the MAC pre-season coaches' poll.ย They have a trio of wrestlers in the top five in the conference's pre-season rankings. Jacob Oliver is the MAC's top-ranked wrestler at 174 pounds while Gabe Willochell (141 pounds) and Ethan Ducca (184 pounds) check in as the number four wrestler in their respective classes. It's a deep team with a wrestler in the top-10 at every weight class and top-8 in nine of the 10 weight classes.
MATCH UP HISTORY
The Scots and Golden Flashes met up last season as part of the round-robin with Northern Illinois held at the MAC Center. Edinboro has taken the only dual between the squads as MAC rivals, winning in 2019. The Flashes knocked off the Scots the last time they met in Edinboro, back in December of 2018.
NEXT TIME OUT
The Golden Flashes will enjoy the holiday break. They are next in action in their home opener on Friday, January 7th against Cleveland State. The dual is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. inside the MAC Center.
