Golden Flashes Track and Field set to host Doug Raymond National Qualifier

Kent State track and field hosts their first home meet this Saturday, February 13 as they compete in the Doug Raymond National Qualifier.
Competition begins on Saturday with the men's weight throw, women's shot put, women's high jump, women's long jump, and women's triple jump all starting at 10:00 a.m. The last field event is scheduled to get underway at 1:30 p.m. The women's 5000-meter run kicks off the running events at 2:00 p.m. Competition will come to a close with the men's 4x400-meter relay starting at 5:55 p.m.
Kent State will host Akron, Ashland, and Youngstown State.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Sixteen Golden Flashes finished in the top-three in their respective event last weekend at the Akron Invitational.
On the women's side, Leah Pasqualetti and Grace Tennant both took home a first-place finish. Pasqualetti cleared a height of 13'-6.25" in the pole vault and Tennant launched the ball 53'-2.75" in the shot put. Sami Ice and Gabby Bailey joined them coming in third place in each event, respectively. Ice cleared a height of 12'-0.5" and Bailey threw for 46'-1.5". Leah Lisle secured a second-place finish in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:11.70 while Maddie Dunlap finished in third (18:13.36). Mi'Angel Daniels, Desiree Thomas, and Sarena Choi all took home third place finishes of their own. Daniels crossed the finish line with a time of 8.84 in the 60-meter hurdles, Thomas cleared a height of 5'-5.25" in the high jump, and Choi jumped for a distance of 18'-7" in the long jump.
On the men's side, Jake Wickey was the only Golden Flash to secure a first-place finish with a throw of 69'-3.5" in the weight throw. Asa Hodrick and Jacob Mally both finished in second place in their respective events. Hodrick ran the 60-meter dash in 6.81 and crossed the finish line in the 200-meter run with a time of 21.34. Mally finished with a final score of 5,274 in the heptathlon. Dejon Manning and Alexander Shields secured third place finishes in the 200-meter run and heptathlon as well. Manning finished in 21.64 while Shields finished with a final score of 4,936. Drew Johnson took home third place in the mile (4:10.46) and Gavin Schoeneman secured third in the high jump (6'-8.75").

The Golden Flashes will be back in action next weekend as they host the Kent State Tune-Up Saturday, February 20.
