The Kent State men's basketball team improved to 11-5 overall and 8-4 in MAC play after taking down Bowling Green, 71-67, for the season sweep. Senior Tervell Beck led the Flashes' scoring efforts and tied his career-high with 18 points. Beck also added four rebounds and four assists. Pippen secured his seventh double-double performance of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Jeremiah Hernandez scored a career-high 11 points, while junior Gabe O'Neal rounded out the double-figure scoring with 10 points on 4-of-4 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe.
 On the season, the Flashes are shooting 45.4 percent from the floor and 33.6 percent from beyond the arc. Defensively, Kent State has held its opponents to 71.9 points per game on 41.4 percent shooting from the floor and 32.8 percent from long range.

The Huskies, stand (2-10, 1-6 MAC) under the direction of interim head coach Lamar Chapman. NIU will be taking to the floor for the first time since January 16 at Ball State, the Huskies have had seven games postponed during their pause. In its last game, NIU fell to Ball State, 78-58. The Huskie offense had begun to find success from long-range over the last four games before the pause as NIU shot 41.3 percent from beyond the arc during that stretch. Junior Zool Kueth has shot 55 percent (11-of-20) from three-point range over those four games while junior Trendon Hankerson) is shooting 38.5 percent (10-of-26) from three.
NIU has three players scoring in double figures in Cochran (13.8), Hankerson (12.3), and Beane (10.8).
