Flashes Post Season High Against Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Kent State gymnastics team (3-4, 1-0 MAC) posted a season-high score of 195.650 despite falling to Eastern Michigan (11-3, 2-2 MAC) on Sunday.
The Golden Flashes put together an incredible performance that will be instrumental in determining their national ranking. The season-high score is the most the Flashes have scored in over 365 days.
"We felt much better about our total team effort," said Head Coach Brice Biggin. "Unfortunately, we missed out on the victory, but we are encouraged by how we competed."
Abby Fletcher continues her impressive senior season, finishing in the top-five on all three of her events. She tied a career-high 9.925 on floor to win another individual title. Fletcher also scored a 9.825 on vault to win her second individual title of the day, while she finished tied for fifth on beam with a score of 9.725. The Oradell, N.J., native has seven individual titles in five meets this season.
"Abby is having a phenomenal senior year and is really stepping up for us," said Biggin. "We know we still have more in us and will continue to work on some small things to help make us a better team. Overall, I'm still happy with the effort we saw from the team today."
The Flashes scored season-highs on multiple events, including floor (49.325) and bars (49.025). On floor, Toshi Richard and Rachel DeCavitch tied for third place with scores of 9.875. All five Golden Flashes scored higher than 9.825.
On bars, Jade Brown led the way with a score of 9.850. Madison Iannuzzo finished in fifth place with a score of 9.825.
DeCavitch also tied for second place on vault with a score of 9.775 on her way to an all-around score of 38.600.

Next Up
The team will host Western Michigan on Thursday, Feb. 18. The Flashes will then take on MAC-rival Central Michigan on Sunday, Feb. 21, inside the M.A.C. Center.
