
Golden Flashes Post Season High in Loss to Broncos

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team fell to Western Michigan 196.025-195.850 despite posting a new season-high score for the second straight week.
The Flashes dominated on floor, posting a season-high 49.475. The incredible performance was the best score by a Kent State floor lineup since the 2018 season. Four Golden Flashes finished inside the top-two with Brown taking home her second individual title of the day with a 9.925. Karlie Franz, Abby Fletcher and Toshi Richard all tied for second place with a score of 9.900. Franz' score marked a new career-high for the sophomore.
Kent State started out on fire, setting a season-high 49.925 on vault. Cami Klein and Franz each scored season highs of 9.825 to finish tied for third place.
The Golden Flashes swept the top-three positions on bars, with Jade Brown taking home the individual title with a score of 9.900. Rachel DeCavitch and Sarah Haxton tied for second place with a 9.850. Haxton's score marks a career high for the freshman.
The Flashes also set a season-high on beam with a score of 48.950. Fletcher scored a 9.875 to lead Kent State and finish tied for second place.

The Golden Flashes will host MAC-rival Central Michigan at the M.A.C. Center on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. for the annual Pink Meet.
Kent State will then travel to DeKalb, Ill., to take on Northern Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 27, before coming home to host Ball State on Sunday, March 7. The Flashes will end their regular season at Bowling Green on Friday, March 12.

Kent State gymnastics works with former Golden Flash gymnast, Kristine Slam, with all proceeds donated to the Central Ohio Surgical Association (COSA) and its COSACares fund. Slam founded and runs COSACares, which is a grant that focuses on men and women who are or have been affected by breast cancer.
